Update 24 May 2018

Sheepcote Lane application for 26 houses has been REFUSED by HBC.
Grounds included safety issues at the junction with Main St, unsuitable roads leading to the site, and the fact that it represents inefficient use of the site, as HBC wish to have 88 houses within the Local Plan covering that site and an attached area. 

Update 22 May 2018
Darley Mill Planning Application is APPROVED
It was discussed at HBC Planning Committee today and passed by 7 votes to 3

Primrose Bungalow demolition and replacement by 3 dwellings also APPROVED
But at least the buildings are now only 2/3 storeys rather than 3/4
The developer has to sort out the footpath that goes through the site before final approval will be given

Appeal re Silverdale houses was ALLOWED, so there will be no further action taken. 

 

Update 25 April 2018
Darley Mill re-application still to be discussed by HBC.  Primrose Bungalow - revised plans to be discussed at PC Meeting on 30 April.  No news re Silverdale Appeal.  New application for 5 houses on west side of Stumps Lane (below caravan site) (18/01040/FUL) to be discussed at PC Meeting on 30 April.  Outline application for 5 houses next to Darley House was recently REFUSED by HBC.

Update 23 February 2018
There is now a new application for the Development of Darley Mill and 4 further dwellings. (18/00661/FULMAJ). The mill conversion is the same as before, but the additional dwellings are now in different locations, as the Planning Committee felt they were too isolated.
Appeals have been lodged regarding the refusal of amendments to the planning approval for 4 houses at Silverdale. The enforcement notice is therefore on hold.
There is a planning application to demolish Primrose Bungalow and replace with a block of 3 houses. (17/05251/FUL). Due to the initial concern expressed by the Parish Council and others, this is to be taken to full HBC Planning Committee (no date yet). 

Update 15 January 2018
Development of Darley Mill to provide houses and apartments in the Mill building and 5 further dwellings behind the Mill (16/02616/FULMAJ) was REFUSED at HBC Planning Committee on 9 January 2018 by 1 vote, because of the additional 5 houses. The application 16/02617/LB) concerning the works needed to concert the Mill for housing was APPROVED.

The development of 18 houses near the White House on Main St (17/02008/FULMAJ) was APPROVED by HBC Planning Committee on 19 December 2017, by the Chairman's casting vote. 

Update 10 December 2017
Development of 18 houses near The White House on Main St (17/02008/FULMAJ)  is expected to be considered at the meeting of HBC Planning Committee on 19th December. The Darley Mill site (16/02616/FULMAJ) consideration is now expected early in 2018.

Update 28 November 2017
An Enforcement notice has been served regarding the buildings at Silverdale, stating that there is a breach of planning permission. If there is no appeal, the enforcement comes into action on 8 January 2018.  Re-amended plans have been submitted for Darley Mill Centre (16/02616/FULMAJ). These are supported by the Parish Council. It is expected that the application will be considered at the HBC Planning Meeting on 19 December 2017.  Amended plans have been submitted for the development of 18 houses near the White House on Main St. The Parish Council has objected to this development.

These two applications were heard at the HBC Planning Committee. After a long debate, where the Councillors expressed concern and amazement that the houses were still being built, these two applications were REFUSED

Update 17 August 2017
Silverdale houses 17/01703/DVCON
This is an application for variation of conditions to allow the houses to include an additional storey of bedrooms, velux windows in the roof and uPVC windows throughout.
The Parish Council has objected strongly to this retrospective application as well as other changes in applications 17/01702 and 17/01704. The application will go to HBC Planning Committee on 26th September. Objections can be made on the HBC site.

Sheepcote Lane 16/02700/FULMAJ
Amended site plan submitted to HBC, together with Transport Plan, suggesting
a traffic calming measure be installed on Sheepcote Lane below Darley Memorial Hall to ensure one way traffic with priority to traffic travelling up the hill. Consultation re-opened.

Discussed at HBC Planning Committee 25 April 2017
 Parish Clerk and a local resident spoke against the application
However, it was approved by 14 votes to 1, with various conditions
In fact it was officially deferred to allow the Chief Planner to consider the latest drainage report and to agree a contribution re Affordable Housing.
Assuming these matters are sorted out, its full approval is expected in the next few weeks/months.

Planning application has now been submitted (16/01705/FULMAJ). Parish Council discussed this at meeting on 24 May.  Comments can be made to Harrogate Borough Council via their website.

Proposed Scheme Darley Mill Centre
YorPlace are proposing a development of 8 dwellings within the Mill and 5 cottages on the overspill carpark. Initial plans were presented at a public meeting on 3 May 2016

 Proposed Scheme  Stumps Lane
YorPlace are proposing a development of 9 homes on land at the bottom of Stumps Lane. This was unveiled at a public meeting on 10th February 2016, but a planning application has not yet been filed.

 Proposed Major Development  Sheepcote Lane
26th November 2015

Yorvik Homes are proposing a major development of 29 homes on land opposite Darley Memorial Hall on Sheepcote Lane.  This was unveiled at a Public Exhibition on 26th November 2015, with Carter Jonas, but a planning application has not yet been filed.

It should be noted that there  is a mistake in paragraph 1. Members of the Parish Council had no input to the display or proposals and did not see the plans until 2 days before the Public Meeting.
