Easter collections

There will be no collections on Good Friday 30 March and Easter Monday 2 April.  Please check below as you will get an EARLIER or LATER collection. Normal service will resume on Monday 9 April 2018.

Easter recycling

Cardboard and foil packaging can be recycled in your blue bags and black boxes. Find out more at www.harrogate.gov.uk/recycling   All households can have two black boxes and two blue bags for recycling. If you currently only have one and would like another please call our Customer Services Team on 01423 500600.  

May bank holiday collections  

During the week of May Day and late Spring Bank Holiday Mondays your collection will be the day after your usual collection day (Friday collections will take place on Saturday). 

 

New Parish Clerk
Alexia Zeniou has been appointed as Parish Clerk for Darley and Menwith and will be taking over from Sue Welch very soon. Sue is retiring after 10 years in post, but will hopefully become a Parish Councillor at the election in May. Alexia will be writing a short biography to appear in the next Newsletter.

No 24 Bus service
Sunday Services for No 24 bus between Pateley Bridge and Harrogate are secured for 2 years.  Launch of new service 1st October

Darley Mill Centre will close its doors for good on 24 December
Café / Restaurant closed on 8 November

in Village Category of the Great British High Street Awards
It was named as winner in the Village Category in December 2016

Keith Hardcastle receives his British Empire Medal from the Lord Lieutenant of Yorkshire at a special ceremony at County Hall. He was accompanied by his wife and other members of his family.

Keith Hardcastle was awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen's Birthday Honours List, for services to Farming in Nidderdale and the Community in Darley
This recognised his 50 years of community work, including

Parish Councillor for 40 years and Chairman for 20 years
Member of Darley Memorial Hall Committee for 50 years  and Chairman for 30+ years
Member of  Nidderdale Agricultural Society for 40 years, including Chairman and President
Governor of Darley Community Primary School  for 5+ years
Member of Felliscliffe Young Farmers' Club for 56 years

And all of this while raising a family and running a large farm
He was toasted at the Tea Party at Darley Memorial Hall on 12 June, and paid tribute to his wife Audrey  'I couldn't have done any of this without her.... She stayed in on an evening and looked after the children and cooked the meals while I went out...'
