Vacancy for Parish Clerk January 2016
Following the retirement of the previous Clerk, Dacre Parish Council is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, well-organised and self-motivated person to take on the post of Clerk to the Council and Responsible Financial Officer.
The Clerk’s duties include:
Acting as advisor to the Council
Setting agendas, attending and taking minutes at monthly evening meetings
Dealing with correspondence
Communicating with Parish Councillors and local residents
Dealing with invoices and payments and accounts and the annual audit
Management of Parish Caretaker
Liaison with Dacre and Hartwith Playing Fields Association
Liaison with Harrogate Borough Council and North Yorkshire County Council and other relevant agencies
The ability to use and access e-mail, Word, Excel and other relevant technology is necessary. It is expected that a computer with appropriate software and a scanner/printer will be provided by the Council. Previous experience in local government administration is desirable but not essential as training can be provided and mentoring by an experienced Clerk will be available, if required. The Clerk will normally work from home and will be required to attend monthly evening meetings (Tuesdays) and occasional daytime meetings.
Clerk will be employed by the Council for 16 hours per month (subject to review),
at a salary within the National Association of Local Council (NALC) Scales,
starting at SCP15 (£8.61 per hour) or
higher dependent upon experience and qualifications, plus £4 per week
homeworker’s allowance and other reasonable expenses.
